Can we print celebrity pictures on clothes?

or what is the whole copyright rules for printing on clothes these days?
could pictures be taken from say tumblr or something and be printed on shirts to sell? etc etc

There are two different issues here.

First is copyright. The copyright to a picture belongs to the person who took it. If you take a picture off Tumblr and make a copy of it – on paper or on merchandise or even just an electronic copy – you are violating the copyright of the photographer. You cannot legally do this without the permission of the photographer.

Second is the right of a person to profit from the "commercial exploitation" of their likeness. If you take a picture of a celebrity then you own the copyright, and can use it as you choose. If you use it commercially, though, the celebrity has a right to a royalty fee.

Even non-photographic images, or images that "evoke" a celebrity are covered. In "White v. Samsung" the model/actress Vanna White won the right to be paid royalties for a Samsung ad that used a robot in a blond wig turning letters in a futuristic "Wheel of Fortune" type game, even though she herself was not pictured in it.

Can you use popular cartoon pictures on the bags of love site?

I am wanting to make a blanket on bags of love but the images I’m wanting to use are disney images that I found on google images. Will they allow me to use these pictures? Or does the site only allow your own photo’s? and if thats the case would I be able to take a photo of something disney that i own and use that? What are the rules with this site?

Technically you can’t use the Disney images, even from objects you own. You own the object and you can do pretty much what you want with it, but Disney retains ownership of the images. No one is allowed to make copies of those images without the owner’s permission. (license) that’s what copyright means.

Technically, YOU can make copies for your own personal use, but a company can not get paid to make those copies for you. That company MAY go ahead and just do it anyway, but if THEY get caught, they face huge fines an possibly the loss of their business. Whatever the company’s rules, a legitimate business will refuse to do it.

theyre usually a solid color in the background then its a cartoon picture of a woman or like a couple with some funny funny sarcastic saying. people post them on facebook a lot. where can i find these?
I keep heqring demotivational posters, but i dont think thats them, theyre in more colors like purple and blue etc, not just black and white

Is it legal to post pictures of kids at daycare on your facebook page,without asking parents?

A friend of mine posts pictures of kids she takes care of, on facebook.

She is proud that she is helping to care for them, loves them and her job.

So she will take pictures with her iphone and upload them–kids playing, or her taking a angle pic with the toddler.

I asked her if the parents know their kids are on her fb page—-and she said she doesn’t see what the big deal is, she loves her job-why not show it off.

Is this legal?!

This is actually a big question right now that is getting a lot of legal wheels turning, but it isn’t completely clear. Facebook has been around for a while, but laws haven’t really evolved to the point where they need to be to adapt to a huge online social sphere.

It may seem a little harsh, but she is actually in the wrong if she is publishing photos on facebook of children without the parents’ permissions. The penalty for doing so varies depending on your state. If your child is one of the kids and you feel uncomfortable you can either contact facebook about it or file an injunction with the help of an attorney.

How come no one from India hardly ever puts their OWN picture for a profile picture on facebook?
